Investigation of a 3D-Magnetic Flux PMSM With High Torque Density for Electric Vehicles

This paper presentsan investigation of a 3D-magnetic flux permanent magnet synchronous motor (3D-MF PMSM) used for electric vehicle applications. The investigated 3D-MF PMSM consists an integrated radial-flux and axial-flux structure. It has two air-gaps air-gaps, as well toroidal winding wound stator. structure helps to concentrate all the within maximize torque production. Moreover, there are no end-windings in this stator windings effectively A comprehensive performance evaluation, terms back-electromotive force, average output torque, cogging ripple, flux-weakening capability, etc., is conducted. An interior purposely included benchmark comparison. results show that compared PMSM, original exhibits significantly improved density, higher power factor, efficiency, but suffers from serious ripple. Accordingly, skewed arrangement introduced PMSM. As result, ripple reduced.
